Bandai Namco Explores the World of Blockchain Gaming and AI-Based Virtual Pet NFT Game

Bandai Namco, the renowned gaming giant behind popular franchises like Pac-Man and Tekken, has entered the world of blockchain gaming with the launch of an AI-powered virtual pet game. The company’s research arm, Bandai Namco Research, has teamed up with Oasys, a gaming-centric blockchain network, and Japanese startup Attructure, to introduce RYUZO, a new game featuring NFT-based digital creatures known as RYU.

RYUZO takes inspiration from the viral sensation of the 90s, Tamagotchis, where players nurture and engage with virtual pets. However, RYU adds a unique twist by incorporating artificial intelligence to deliver a more advanced and interactive virtual pet experience. Each RYU transforms into a soulbound token upon hatching, ensuring its uniqueness and limiting transferability or sale.

The RYU creatures in the game develop distinct personalities and unlock various abilities based on user interactions. Through AI technology, players can feed and race their pets while witnessing the creatures learn and evolve. The game allows players to create multiple generations of pets within the application, offering a continuous and evolving experience.

Before the official release of the game, 10,000 digital NFT eggs called MARYU were airdropped to holders of Oasys’ first series of NFTs in the “Oasyx” project. This move generated anticipation and excitement among the gaming community. The nurturing phase of the game is expected to last for a year, providing ongoing content and experiences for players.

In addition to RYUZO, Oasys has announced plans for collaborations with other notable game projects. This includes a crossover event with the popular blockchain game Brave Frontier Heroes. These collaborations indicate a promising future for blockchain gaming and suggest the arrival of more exciting NFT releases.

Bandai Namco’s entry into the blockchain gaming space reflects the industry’s growing interest in adopting Web3 technology. The company joins other prominent game publishers, such as Ubisoft, who are also developing their own blockchain games. This trend highlights the increasing potential and opportunities within the innovative gaming landscape.

As the popularity of blockchain gaming continues to rise, industry players are venturing into this space to tap into its vast potential. Bandai Namco’s partnership with Oasys and Attructure in the creation of RYUZO further strengthens the blockchain gaming ecosystem and offers players a unique and immersive gaming experience.
