NFT Holders Given the Opportunity to See Their Digital Collectibles on the Formula One (F1) Track at the U.S. Grand Prix
In an exciting collaboration between Williams Racing and crypto exchange Kraken, NFT holders now have the chance to see their digital collectibles racing around the Formula One (F1) track during this year’s U.S. Grand Prix on October 22 in Austin, TX. The initiative aims to bring together the worlds of NFTs and motorsports, providing a unique and engaging experience for both crypto enthusiasts and F1 fans.
To participate, NFT holders with assets listed on Kraken’s NFT marketplace can submit their tokens for consideration from August 1 to August 18. Williams Racing and Kraken will then shortlist the top 20 entries, and from August 28 to 31, the community will vote on the final four NFT choices. Additionally, Williams team drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant will personally handpick two NFTs to join the lineup.
Kraken’s Head of Brand Partnerships, Lou Frangella, expressed enthusiasm for featuring NFTs on the team cars, acknowledging the significance of these digital collectibles for their owners. Frangella believes that NFTs are an essential part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, symbolizing ownership and engaged communities.
The partnership between Kraken and Williams Racing, which began earlier this year, is groundbreaking, as it is the first collaboration between a crypto exchange and an F1 team. The main objective of the partnership is to foster understanding and adoption of cryptocurrencies and the Web3 movement, uniting F1 fans and crypto enthusiasts.
This collaboration is not the first instance of an F1 team recognizing the importance of NFTs and crypto. Red Bull Racing recently partnered with Bybit in a deal worth $150 million, while the Sui blockchain entered into a multi-year agreement with Red Bull Racing to provide Web3 experiences to its fanbase. Additionally, during the Monaco Grand Prix in May, F1 ticket provider Platinum Group introduced NFT tickets that offer access to the race and future ticket discounts.
As the F1 world embraces crypto and NFTs, these partnerships highlight the innovative and engaging approaches taken to enhance the fan experience. They also showcase the growing intersection between the world of motorsports and the rapidly evolving crypto ecosystem.
This opportunity to see NFTs on the F1 track brings the dream of witnessing digital collectibles integrated into real-life products one step closer to becoming a reality. Whether it’s watching a Bored Ape or a CryptoPunk zooming around the track, the connection between NFTs and the thrill of motorsports is set to create an unforgettable experience.
